LET'S BREAK IT DOWNNNN!
When she first sat down in my chair I panicked. She wanted a low maintenance color that ultimately just blended. Her hair had been previously lightened throughout her ends and had been colored a purplish pink.
The Step by Step
1. Consultation + learning hair history + being honest about realistic achievable results
2. Section off the hair into 4 quadrants: 2 in the front and 2 in the back
3. Mix up lightener: I used 20 volume and Wella blondor lightener for her pink sections
4. Apply lightener to only the pink sections. then let that process for about 20 min
5. Wash the hair out and pretone with purple shampoo
6. Flash dry the hair ( the hair does not look good at this phase because you were just removing the pink
7. Mix up a root, mid and end shade
8. Section off the hair once more then go in and melt the color from darkest to lightest. Make sure to take the root color over the line of demarcation that way it will create a much better blend. After you have applied everything, let it process for about 20 mi
9. Wash, deep condition to make sure the hair is feeling happy and then blowdry and style
10. DO NOT FORGET TO TAKE PICTURES!!!! Make your client feel like a model! Show her how amazing you did on her hair! Most clients say " Is that really my hair? OH MY!!" Before and After pictures are crucial!!!
