Hey! It's me, Bec

Updated: Mar 31, 2020

Hey friends,

It's me Becca! I am the face behind @becthestylist. I have been in the hair industry for about 3 1/2 years and it has completely flown by. I got into the industry because of my love for makeup and I always pictured myself as a master esthetian doing eyelash extensions, makeup and microblading. Funny thing was that when I went to cosmetology school, the esthetic program really didn't catch my interest and the hair side of things really fasinated me. So things started to change and I very quickly became all about hair.

I graduated school in 14 months which was super hard I basically lived at the school 24/7 in order to do that. I pulled 60 hour weeks and somehow I was still so in love with it when I graduated! #thankfully. After I graduated, I worked at a salon and also worked for Jane Iredale Cosmetics as a makeup artist. I did that for just over 2 years and I loved it but I was eagerly looking for something more. I knew I was moving up to Logan to be with my now husband and the idea of starting at a new salon really terrified me! I was afraid I would have to start out at the bottom again and then after a few years be able to go to a higher end salon. I decided to take the leap and head straight for a higher end salon and the outcome has been way better then I ever thought it could be!

When I started at Serendipity Salon, I was a commission stylist which means I only made a percentage of the total sales during that month. This was nice starting out because it was like a safety net. I was 100% convinced that I would have to do that for a year or so before I would have enough clientele to move to booth rent. Boy was I wrong!! After just one month, my amazing boss came up to me and told me I was ready to move to booth rent. Excited and scared I agreed and ever since then I have been able to grow my business into what it is today.

Once I moved over to booth rent I felt as if I had just accomplished a huge milestone! My excitement was through the roof! I felt as though I could do anything! So I made a list of all the next things that I would want to do. I wanted to create a website and start a blog and become more focused on marketing through social media. It has been a lot of work and lots of time has been put into it but I finally feel that I'm getting the hang of things!

The idea of having a website and a blog and a good instagram feed has always been something I have wanted but never really something that I though that I would get. Honestly I never really think about the fact that people actually read and enjoy the content that I put out but then my clients will come up and tell me that they loved this or that post and it taught them something new. I AM SO SHOCKED! I am educating! I am actually putting out things that people want to see! It has made me so much more excited to find out that my clients actually read what I put out!

I have come so far in this industry so far and I am so happy with all that I have learned and all that I have been able to teach and I am so excited to create more content for you guys! My job is the best I am 100% convinced.
